Anzac Day is the day we remember the NZ soldiers who risked their lives to fight for our country. Do you know of any men or woman in your family tree who fought in either World War One or World War Two? What do you know about them or about the ANZACs?
My great, great uncle Len and my great grandfather Raymond fought in world war 2 and my great grandfather Kevin was in the home guard. Another great grandfather worked as an aircraft mechanic in England. My Oma lived in Holland during the war and a German pilot was shot down into her paddock. She helped him. Each year I go to the Anzac Day service and this year I wore my great uncle's medals.
My Grandad Allan went to war in World War II as part of the Navy, and he survived and he is living in Dunedin. We visit him when we go on holiday to Dunedin.
My Great Granddad Jack Charlesworth fought in World War 2. He was from England where the War and soldiers are remembered on the 11th day of the 11th month at 11am.
My great great Grandfather fought in world war 1 he was injured and returned home. Our family celebrates ANZAC every year.
