Matariki Week 6 and 7

Matariki is the Maori new year, the time when the Matariki cluster of stars can be seen in our sky. It is a great time to celebrate the Maori culture and look into our night sky. The night sky in New Zealand is unique. What can you see in our night sky?

  1. You can see a constellation of seven stars that guides you across the sea. The Maori did not have a GPS so they used the stars.
