Social Justice Week this year invites us to find out the migration story from our own families. It encourages us to show kindness to new immigrants to our country. When did members of your family first come to New Zealand? What country did they migrate from?
My Mum came from the Philippines

Mums family came from England and Sweden. The English side of Mums family came to New Plymouth from Plymouth in England in 1890. Dads family came from Scotland and Germany and Norway and I was born in Australia. The first of Dads family came in 1842.

ReplyDeleteMy family came from Ireland in 1895.His name was David Bradley and he lived in the Arahura valley until he died.He was my great great great granddad.

ReplyDeleteMamere is French Canadian, Djiadjiu's grandfather came over to the US from Poland and my mum is from California.
ReplyDeleteMy great nana and granddad moved to NZ from Italy. My great nana was 8 and came from Santa Caterina. My dads family came from Scotand and I moved to NZ from Australia when I was 18 months old.
ReplyDeleteDads mum and dad moved from Germany to Australia. Mums mum and dad come from New Zealand. I come from Australia.
ReplyDeleteMy Great Great Grandmother sailed in a boat from Ireland to NZ on mums side of the family tree. My Great Great Great Great Grandfather Routhan came to Australia from England in the early 1800’s. His son George came to NZ to do gold rush. We found him at Stafford cemetery.
ReplyDeleteMy Dad's family came from England and Settled in Australia. My Mums family also came from England and settled in New Zealand. Dad moved from Australia when he was 7 years old and lived in Owaka until last year of school. Mum was born and raised in Greymouth.
ReplyDeleteMy Dad was born Ranfurly(near Alexandra)he grew up in Dunedin and my Mum was born in Hokitika, she grew up in HariHari. My dads ancestors came from Scotland and my Mums ancestors came from Scotland and Italy.
